Fibromyalgia is medical condition that is believed to be another form of arthritis. It is a severe condition, characterized by generalized pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. If you suffer from this disease, you will more likely experience fibro symptoms like headaches, fatigue, more discomforting menstrual periods, numbness of hands and feet, morning stiffness, tender points all over the body and difficulty to sleep. More often than not, pain takes place in body parts such as the neck, shoulders, some points in the back, hands and pelvic region but it doesn’t eliminate the fact that the condition may affect any of our body parts. So far, medical research and studies haven’t established yet any known cause of fibromyalgia. Although many times, the condition has been associated to a number of contributing factors.
Additionally, there has been a research proposing that difficulties in sleeping may not be a symptom at all, but a cause rather. It has also been stated that injury or trauma which significantly affects the central nervous system as well as any viral or bacterial infection are essential triggers or causes of fibromyalgia. It hasn’t been completely proven yet but the condition is also associated to imbalance neurotransmitters, one of which is serotonin which is believed to be related with fibromyalgia as well as migraines, gastrointestinal disturbances, moods or depression. Sluggish blood flow is also linked with the condition. These possible causes give ideas that fibromyalgia pain management can affect people of all age groups and a greater risk is inflicted to those who have existing rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. Moreover, since hereditary is another factor to be considered in fibromyalgia, people with a family history of the condition, most likely have higher risk of having it.
